Another Big: Case From Lake.
The third and last of the big suits against the Morion Railroad company, on account of damages by the same prairie fire, has now been sent here for trial, from Lake o. county, on change ot venue. Tl|3 fire started north of Shelby, on Oct. 7th 1897, and burned over thousands of acres, and continued to burn in the peaty soil for weeks and months. Two of these cases, those of John B. Brown and Wm. B. BroWri have already been tided here each lasting about two weeks. •< The third is the case of the Lake Agricultural Company vs. the Monon. The plaintiff claims it had 1300 acres burned over and the permanent damage to the soil is put at SIO,OOO. The loss on the pasture is put at SI,OOO, or SII,OOO in all. In the other two cases the changes of venue from Lake Co., were taken bj the railroad company, but in this case the plaintiff took the change. The case may possibly be tried this term of court but hurdly lively. As in both the other cases, the railroad will ask for a “struck” jury.
