Will Raise Sugar Beets.
The business of raising sugar beets will be largely followed in norhern Jasper this year, even if the projected beet sugar factory at North J udsou lias petered out. An agent of the fact >ry at Kalamazoo, Mich., has been working in Wheal field and Kankakee tp. for some lime, and made many contracts wilh farmers, for raising beets this year. The Kalamazoo people agree to pay $4 per ton for the beets, onjboard tlie cars at the nearest railroad point. They pay the freight and accept the beets without auy tests. The companlr furnishes the seed and deducts the price* of tho same from the firstpshipmetit of beets. The- Kalamazoo people really offer u better thing to the farmers that the projectors of the North Judson factory. For they wauted the I eet raisers to pay the freight to the factory and also to take less than $4 per ton if the beets tested less than a certain per cent, of sugar. We are all so reliably informed that contracts for over 200 acres of beets have already been taken in the vicinity of Wheatfield.
