A Bummy License Blank.

The marriage license blanks which the county clerk issues, come bound a large number together in book and are always supposed to be quite a handsome specimen of printing and lithographing. Our clerk has just began using a neyv book of licenses, furnished by a Lafayette printing house, and we are free to say they are the “bummiest piece • ' of work of their kind we have seen for a long time. They are supposed to be ornamented with a picture of a marriage ceremony. The groom in the pioture wears the Burnsides cut of beard of 25 years ago, and is hairy enough on head and face for an “after taking” advertisment for a hair restorer. The preacher would do pretty well for the “before taking” from the big bald place on his head, The cut of his whiskers is that' df our esteemed Dunkard and Amish • ■ o fellow citizens. The bride is a sour and sallow looking old damsel of about $5 and the clothes herself and all the other females in the picture wear are about that many years out of date. The rest of the blank is in keeping with the picture, and the whole thing is a “bute” aud no mistake.
