The City Council.
All present but the Mayor. J. W. Horton was granted a permit to move an addition to his building, corner Washington and Cullen streets, ftom the rear of the building around to the front and to then remodle the same for a business office. An extensive report was made by the finance committee of the city’s indebtedness. We still owe, on the new school house, SII,OOO and on the electric light plant $9,600 and on the waterworks $46,100. This our entire debt is $57,100. Butfrom this may fairly be deducted $4,170:95, now in the sinking fund. The Tresurer’s report dated Jan. Bth showed balances on hand as follows: Corporation fund $3,824:13 Road fund......... 711:67 Elec. Light fund 411:84 Water Works fund 1,951:61 Sinking fund 4,170:95 Special Add’l. .359:42 Some twenty claims were allowing, covering an amount of $272.61. S. O. Duvall & Sons were granted permission to put up a {steel covered addition to their livery stable on south Van Rensselaer street. An ordinance granting the Ha’leck Telephone Company a franchise for 13 years was introduced and discussed. It was amended so as to require a telephone exchange to be installed within a year, and r?,ad the first time. Its provisions and promises are noted in another article.
