Midnight High Mass.

Midnight high mass was celebrated at St. Augustine’s Catholic ciuroh, by Rev. Thomas Meyers, a; 12j o’clock last Sunday night. Ihere was quite a large congregation present. This was in accordance with a deoree of the Pope, declaring the year 1900 a holy year preparatory to the 20th century, and Catholic churches, everwhere throughout the world, were author-, i/.ed to hold mass at midnight, at (lie beginning of the new year. In this connection it is of interest to state that the Pope’s decree states positively that the 20th century begins at midnight on the night of Dec. 31st of the year 1900 end Jan' Ist, 1901.
