They were so bundled up to protect them from thd cold that they did not see or hear the train. dV‘ Smith was the surgeon of the lblst Indiana regiment and one 'of the most prominent and popular men in Carroll county. Sousa was a young Cuban boy, from 'pear Havana, who - came to Indiana with the lfilst. and has been !making his home with Dr. Smith/. He was a very bright boy and pauch liked by the members of the regiment. They knew him by the name of “Jocko.” ! -
