A Private Car on Fire.
Mr. Samuel Felton, the new president of the Chicago & Alton, passed over the Monon Route for Chicago Tuesday, presumably on his return from Cincinnati, where be spent the Christmas tide with his family. When his private car, to passenger train No. 32, arrived in Monon it was discoverto be on fire. The heator enclosed in one end of the car to supply warmth to the portable palace became over charged with heat and set fire to the roof. The blaze was soon extinguished, but the car being unfit for occupancy, it was side-tracked and Mr. Felton took passage in the regular 'sleeper for the remainder of the trip into Chicago.—Monon News
