Last year the London school board began the experiment of free admission to the evening schools. The result, now officially made known, strikingly confirms the wisdom of the step, for there was a vast increase in schools and scholars, the former numbering 321 and the latter 109,000. In other words, the roll of pupils nearly doubled.
