For Lieutenant Governor.
Hon. L. P. Newby, of Knightstown, a very courteous gentleman who was in town Friday, is a prominent candidate for the nomination for Lieutenant Governor on the Republican ticket. Mr. Newby has been loDg and favorably known throughout the state, from his prominence as a legislator. He has' been state senator from his district for 8 years, and for 6 of those years, has been president pro tern of the senate still holding the position. He was ohairman. of the judiciary committee, and of joint caucus pf house and senate for six years. A member of the Republican state central committee for four years. He is also a noted campaign orator, having visited most of Indiana in that capacity as well as parts of Ohio and Kentucky. He is an all-around good man, and if nominated will make a strong candidate, and if elected will make a model presiding officer of the state senate.
