But the Pope Didn’t Say It

The Lowell Record presents a very cogent and indeed unanswerable chain of reasoning showing why the 19th oentnry will not end nntil Deo. 31,1900, but at the end it befogs the whole matter by asserting that the Roman pontiff has issued a decree fixing the end of the predent month as the end of oentnry. This statement is certainly an error, as the pope has issued no snob decree, and even the Times-Herald, the original discoverer of the decree has evidently discovered its mistake, for it makes no further use of the pope’s position to bolster up its end-of-the-centnry fallacy.
