Some Christmas Decorations.
Several of our leading stores have made extra elaborate window and interior decorations for Christmas. At the' Chicago Bargain Store Ross Goble is the special window decorating artist. The corner window represents a fine suit of living rooms, a conspicuous feature of which being an old fashioned fire-place, with, large chimney, upon the top of.whicb is old Santa, just -ready to decend with his enormous burden of toys, and other presents, to decorate more fully the fine Christmas tree in the room below. At Ellis & Murray’s, where Vernon Nowels is the chief designer of the decorations, a large and very perfect and complete railroad locpmotive is the chief window design. It is composed of some 39 dozen bandkercheifs. The show windows of this store being too circumscribed to admit of a very large display, special efforts have been made on the interior, and traveling | men who go to many towns pronounce these the first interior decorations they have seen this year. A blue and yellow border, runs all around near the ceiling and is supported by “Grecian pillars.” A large bell com posed of handkerchiefs swings near the door, while an enormous but very well made cornucopia is in the center of the room. At Laßue Bros. Big’ Department Stere, the show windows do not afford facilities for elaborate designs, but the interior, especially of the dry goods department, is a perfect maze of decorations and displayed articles.
