The South African War.
Things have been coming the Boers’ way, right along lately. Gen. Buller, the British commander in cheif, met with a disastrous defeat at Colenso, last Friday,'while attempting to relieve LadysmithThis was the third hard defeat the British have suffered in quick succession ■ At this last defeat they lost 1100 men and 11 large cannons* These , defeats may cause the surrender es the British aimy at Ladysmith, and posaibly at Kimberly, also. There is also much probability of a Boer uprising in the remaining portions of Son th Africa. The British government has issued orders for the doubling of their forces in South Africa and appointed Gens. Roberts and Kitchener, their two greatest generals, in command.
