K. of P. District Meeting.
The Knights of Pythias of the 3rd district of Indiana held their 6th annual district meeting Wednesday, at this place. The district as now made up, comprises the counties of Porter, Lake, Newton and Jasper. For reasons not very clear but short notice was given to the lodge here of the meeting, but what time there was, was so well utilized that a very excellent and largely attended meeting was the result, although the attendance from other counties was much less than it would have been had longer notice been given. It had been intended to hold three seasons, but owing to the lateness of the trains, the forenoon session was not held. The afternoon session consisted of an address of welcome by Jesse E. Wilson, of the local .lodge and response by John G. Erdlitz, district deputy grand chancellor; appointment of committees, exemplication of the secret work of the order, by Frank J. Dunton, the grand instructor. This session was for members, strictly. The evening session was attended by members and their wives, Rathbone Sisters and Uniform Rank. The program as executed, consisted of: Prayer, Rev. A. J. Ward; Music, M ndolin Club; Recitation, Miss Iva Washburn; Duet, Mrs. E. C. English, Mrs. G. K. Hollingsworth; Address, Daniel C. Grand Vice Chancellor; Quartet, H, L. Brown, W. L Wishard, Geo. Barcus, N. H. Warner; Address, James E. McDonald, Grand Chancellor; Music Mandolin Club; Address, Frank J. Dunton, Grand Instructor; Music, Mrs. Delos Thompson; Sextette, Misses Mary and Miriam Hyland, Mabel and Ida Randle, Grace and Ada Nowels. After the program an elegant and bountiful lap supper was served. The hall was crowded at - this session. At the close such members and visitors as so desired took possession of Warner’s hall, adjoining and had a pleasant dance. The attendance from outside was about 40 or 50.
