The County Commissioners.
W. H. Coover, county clerk, reported having taken in and tamed over to the county treasury, fees for the qnarter ending Nov. 30th. 1899, to the amount of $486.25. R. B. Porter, county recorder reported for the same period, $700.90 - N. J, Reed, sheriff, for same period, $348.84. W. C. Babcock, auditor, for fractional quarter, $22.90. In the matter of a petition filed some time ago, asking for an investigation of county officers. The following order was entered. John Finn et al: Petition to have connty records examined: Comes now the petitioners by E. P. Honan, their attorney and presents their petition and the Board after hearing the argument of counsel and being fully advised in the primises finds that heretofore, on Sept. 10th., 1897, this Board entered into a contract with Fleener and Carnahan, expert accountants, to make and carry on the investigation prayed for by the petitioners herein; that after the execution of the contract above referred to, this Board was by the Jasper Circuit Court enjoined from carrying out the provisions of the said contract, from which judgement of the Jasper circuit court an appeal was taken to Supreme court of Indiana in which court the said cause is now pending It is therefore ordered by the Board that this cause be continued pending the decision of the Supreme court in the cause of Elias Marion vs the Board of Commissioners of the County of Jasper. A. G. Hardy, superintendent of the poor farm, filed his report showing the present condition of the farm, stock and other property on hand etc. The number of inmates was 14 but one of whom has since died.
