NORTH BARLEY.
Tom Tanner and family visited Mr. Kinble at Gifford Sunday. • William Whited and Bert Camp attended the Masquerade Ball in Wheatfield Saturday night. T. M. Callahan transacted business in Kankakee, 111., Thursday and Friday. Mr. 'Hickson, of Kniman, will put in a. stock of grocers at Gifford this week. The box supper at Rich Grove was very well attended. Miss Belle Seitz received the prize for being the best spellea, a book. Proceeds amounted to $24.85 which will be used to buy books for the library. Most farmers are through husking corn. There will be an oyster, supper at L. B. Hewitt’s Saturday night for the benefit of the Canada School. All are invited. * Ex Mayer, one of the bankers, B. J. Gifford and another Capitlist of Kankakee came out to Comer last week to look at some land on the east side in the oil ißaion.
