An Ordinance to Prevent Teaming and Heavy Hauling; and Also to Prevent the Running of Traction or Other Heavy Engines Over and Upon the Streets and Alleys oi the City of Rensselaer, at Certain Times in the Year, and Declai ing an Emergency. Section 1. Be it ordained by the Common Council of the City of Rensselaer. Indiana: That It shall be unlawful for any person or persons to haul over any of the streets or alleys in the Cltv of Rensselaer. Indiana at any time when the same is thawing through, or is bv reason of wet weather in a condition to be cut up and Injured by heavy hauling, a 1< .ad on a narrow tired wagon more than twenty hundred pounds, or on a broad tired wagon of more than twenty-five hundred pounds. Section 2. It shall be unlawful for anv uer son or persons to haul or run over any of the streets or alleys of the City of Rensselaer, Indiana at any time when the same is thawing through, or Is by reason of wet or other weatWer in a condition to be cut up bv heavy haul! g. any traction, portable or other engine; provioed that protable engines which are not traction engines, and which do not weigh more than twenty hundred pounds, which have wide tires, be and are hereby excepted from the provisions of this ordinance. Section 3. In all cases where at any season of the year, any person shall run any traction, portable or other engine over the streets or alleysof this city it 18 hereby declared to be the duty of such person or personsjto careiully cover with two inch plank, any street crossings over which such engine shall run, the said covering to be so arranged as to protect the said crossings from any injury or damage on account of running said engine over the same. _ _ , . ~ Section 4. This ordinance is not to be held to or Intended to >n any way affect Ordinance No. 44, aiiproved August 10,1896 with reference to running traction engines on certain streets. Section 5. Any person or persons who shall violate any of the provisions of the foregoing ordinance shall be ti-ed in any sum not exceeding $5.00 nor less than o e dollar. Section 6.
