Death of Sylvester Healy.
Sylvester Healy, a well-known, most upright and universally popular business man, died at his home on Front street, Mouday, Nov. 6, at 6:40 p. m. He was known to be past hope of recovery, but his death so soon was not anticipated. He had been in poor health, by times, for a long time past, and in his last sickness was confined to bis bed 9 weeks. His sickness was long known to be a liver trouble, and is now knoyn to have been a cancer upon that organ. His sufferings daring many periods of his sickness were very great, but the final end was peaceful and free from pain. Sylvester Healy was born in Eillarney, County Kerry, Ireland, in 1837. He began to learn the shoemakers trade at the age of 12, and followed that vocation nearly all his life, but daring a number of years past has kept a boot And shoe store. He married in 1859, to Mies Margaret McCarthy, who survives him. In 1860 he oame to this country, living in Massachusetts about two years, and in 1862 coming to Rensselaer, which has ever since been his home. He was the., father of sevenchildren, of whom one daughter Miss Maggie, and two sons, Jefemiah and John, survive him and live in Rensselaer. Another son died in infancy, while the deaths of three daughters, Mary, Lucy and Agnes, which occurred a number of years ago, and in rapid succession, made their family experience, for the time, one of the saddest in our city. His age was 62 years and three months. The funeral was held on Wednesday, at 10 o’clock a. m., at St. Auorustine’s Catholic church, hv Rev. Father Meyer. Interment was made in Weston oemetery.
