People are husking their corn. Bro. Kester preached at Osborne last Sunday and did not return until Tuesday. Miss Grace Byers, of Kansas, is gristing her aunt, Mrs. J. T. Culp. Mr. and Mrs. Rusk took a drive cut through the north part of the township Monday se&ing after the Sunday school work. There will be a Sunday School convention held at Independence school house, Sunday Nov. 5, beginning at 10 a. m. closing in p. m. A very pleasant surprise party waa given at the home of Mr. Freeman’s on the eve of Oct. 23rd, in honor of Charley Smith’s twentyfust birthday. The crowd numbering about 40, refreshments were served and all had an enjoyable time. Bro. Hoteling, of Kentland, preached at the Christian church Saturday evening the 28th and Sunday morning and evening. Miss Lennie Whitaker, of Wheatfield, is visiting her sister, Mrs. Gasper, who is sick. Miss Myrtle Richmond is the guest cf her aunt, Mrs. Watson. Wm. Tanner has returned from a visit in Dakato, he liked the country very much.
