Excellent Entertainment by the Schumanns.

Bloomington Press: The Schumann concert company appeared last night at the coll ege hall. The program was entertain* ing in every respect. The selections rendered by Miss Letitia Kempster were excellent, and her rendition equalled that of any artist who has ever appeared in a similar Company in our city. The harp solos by Miss Alice Meade Martin were especially enjoyable. The voices of the quartette, composed of Miss Simpson, Miss Westfall, Miss Griewisoh and Miss Dewey blended perfectly. For part second the quartette gave the kitchen scene from “Martha” in costume. This is the first time this has ever been attempted by a ladies’ quartette, and their rendiit was good, especially Miss Simpson as Plunke She not only says the part, but is a fine actress. Miss Westfall as Leonel, Mies Dewey as Martha, and Miss Grewisoh as Julia, took their parts well. Miss Grewisoh’s rendition of Denga’s “If Thou Dost Love Me” was one of the best numbers on the program. • The Schumann program is superior to any previous tour, and the entertainment was the equal of any that has been here for some time. The company will give an entirly different concert to-night and lovers of music should not miss this opportunity to hear such a program.—Here Oct. 26 th.
