Dave Winslow spent Sunday at Rose Lawn. Mrs. Peter H. Zea did shoping in Rensselaer Saturday. John Liggett spent Sunday at Cedar Lake. Mrs. Cottingham was in Chalmers Sunday. Frank Hodge left Sunday for Chicago where he has secured em. ployment. Thomas Fry is visiting his daughter, Mrs. R. Morgan, at Star City, Pulaski County. Mrs. Grant Harmon and children have been visiting her parents at Brookston the past week. A new section foreman has come to town—it is a 10 lb. son to Mr. and Mrs. N. A. McKay last Thursday, Oct. 12 th. Bob Harmon, of Brookston, spent the latter part of last week with his brother, Grant Harmon and family. A subscription list has been circulated among our citizens enough money raised to purchase a street lamp which will be placed in position about the center of the business block. This should have been done long ago. , A new time card went into effect on the C. &E. L. Ry. Sunday, Oct. 8, No. 181 south bound is now due to leave here at 9:50 a. in., or 35 minutes earlier, and No. 182 north bound at 3:50 p. m., or 3 hours and 49 minutes later than heretofore. Ewing & Mikesells have opened a temporary photograph gallery in the Kessler block. Will W. Pfrimmer, the Kankakee poet, will give an entertainment consisting of recitations from “Driftwood,” and other original poems humorous and pathetic, at the M. E. church next Saturday evening Oct. 21st. Proceeds for benefit of school library. Admission 10 and 15 cents. Go and hear him. The monthly temperance meeting was held at the M. E. church last Sunday evening. The church was well filled and an enthusiastic meeting was held. Mrs. Nora Israel visited her mother Mrs. Casey, over Sunday. Rev. Appleton, of Rensselaer, will preach at the Christian church next Tuesday evening. Mrs. J. J. Fry, of Rose Lawn, spent Monday and Tuesday with Mrs. Fry’s parents. Chas. Holly and brother Geo. Holly, of Beaver City, were in town last week on business and visiting friends and relatives. Mrs. Eliza Powell, of Mt. Ayr, visited her daughter, Mrs. James Clifton, several days.
