County Council Called.

The Jasper County Council has been called by Auditor Murray to meet in special session on Wednesday Oct. 25th. The necessity of this meeting results from a recent interpretation of the new poor relief law, made by the attorney general. Heretofore, the law has been understood to mean that the township trustees must provide for the poor in their own townships, (jirectly, and when the council met in September no appropriation was made-for county aid for the poor. The attorney general now -holds that the commissioners, must, as heretofore, continue to advance the money for poor relief in the various townships, and the townships must pay it back at their annual settlement. Hence there must be a county appropriation for relief of poor and the council is called together to act on the matter.
