Sheldon vs. Rensselaer. At the Athletic Grounds West of the City. The Score Tells The Story of The Game. Unlike their base ball team of previous years, Sheldons aggregation of foot ballists gives us the distinct / impression of being “punky.” They came over expecting to win, oh my: and went home this morning not winning but won from. Instead of telling how it happened this must suffice; Line up. RENSSELAER. SHELDON. Wright. J. fCapt.) ..L E..Grlsley Whiting L T. Hath Sheean L T.. Keeler Wright C ..Weighty Cane R G.. Sheldon, 0. F. Malloy, Umpire and Refree. Of the Rensselaer All Stars, for the Season of 1899 we can say we never saw better. J. Wright, this year is a heady, nervy player, runs well and keeps the ball well in view. Whiting at tackle shows up well, yesterdays game being his first .try at that position. Sheehan, is a peach. Yestedays game was his first and we understand the first he ever saw, bui he gets into the plays with a merry good will and with his great strength will be a valuable acquisition to the team. Z. Wright at center is a good man and it is as hard to get through where he guards as though he were a brick wall. Cain, at Right Gaurd, was in the game from begining to end. Tom is one of the finest. Leapold, at tackle, is a new man to our team. His usual place on the University team of which he was a member, was at oenter but he has the natural qualifications of a tackle, and it’s a hard line he cant get through or under. Woodworth at end was Right in the game to to the end and few men are fast enough, or few teams have interference good enough to get around him, True is right and true at all places. Rhoades, on last years quarter was baok in plaoe and ran the game cooly and dearly; Bertie is the right main in the right place, and it would be hard to find his equal. Yeoman, at left half, is as good as we need, he is fast, heavy and plays good ball; he is a fair tackier runs low, and is very nervy. Parcels, with oat doubt is the fastest man in the team and 1 give him half a ohanoe and a tonoh down counts for the red and black He also plays a goad game, is sura and steady. Last bat not least comes C. Brinley our full back. (Full of kioks, you know.) Charley made some ‘beauts* Friday, and is one of the hardest, surest kickers that can be found in Northern Indiana, or elsewhere. Take it nil in all we have a good team, which will win for ns nine out of ten, if we only give it enough encouragement. Let us all attend the next game and work for ear team as wetl aa they work for us.
