CANADA’S BIG WHEAT SURPLUS.

Millions of Bushe’s Reported in Excess of Home Requirements. The final crop estimates show Canada will- have an apparapt surplus of 50.000,000 bushels of wheat for export, as against 30,000,000 last year. But the actual surplus for export will be larger. Manitoba’s crop, as estimated by Premier Greenway, is 60,000,000 bushels; last year it was 30,000,000. This season from GO to 75 per cent, of the crop will grade No. 1 hard; last year less than 40 per cent, graded No. 1 hard, and as much of die crop was damp or tough wheat and unfit for making flour unless dried and mixed with sound wheat, less than half was fit for export. The wheat crop in Ontario this year is 21,000,000 bushels, against 32,000,000 last year. There is an increase in the goose-wheat crop of over 1,000,000 buffhels. There is a large demand for wheat to ship to France and Italy for making macaroni. Many farmers who formerly cultivated barley for export to the United States have, since that trade has fallen off, taken to raising goose wheat, which now sells at a premium 3 to 4 cents over winter wheat.
