The County Commissioners-
Saloon licenses were granted to Reason M. Dunn of DeMotte, Geo. A. Strickfaden, of Rensselaer and James Bilile, of Remington No opposition was made to any of these applicants. County officers reported fees collected for quarter ending Aug. 31, 1899, and turned into the county treasury, as follows: R. B. Porter, county recorder, $581.60. Wm. H. Coover, county clerk $383.50. N. J. Reed, county Sheriff, $350. H. B. Murray, county auditor $86.20. A large number of claims were acted upon. Among them were quite a number for the relief of poor, of various townships t These were all dismissed as under the new laws the commissioners hold that the township trustees, if anyone must pay these claims. A petetiou asking for an election in Marion township to vote aid, for Gifford’s railroad was left with the Board, but as no one appeared formally present the matter, no action was taken at this session.
