Some of the teachers attending the institute were inclined to make game of a young pedagogue from the extreme north part of the county. He was informed that his institute season ticket was good for ice cream at any of the restaurants, the superintendent having made that kind of an arrangement, and he lost no time in trying to get the obligation cashed He worked every restaurant in town, but failed to realize on his ticket. Later he spent an hour waiting at the street corner to see the marshal light the arc lamps. A teacher of that calibre may be able to instruct children the exact date when Cornwalis surrendered to the father of our country, or solve a little sum in arithmetic, but when it comes to the practical facts his obtuse pupil will probably outdo him. — Goodland Journal.
