City Council Proceedings.

The City Council met in regular session last evening. Remonstrances were filed against four proposed street improvements. The opposition was such that the ccnncil deemed it advisable to dismiss all improvement proceedings. The street committee was authorized to purchase the necessary gravel and crashed rock to repair all gravel and macadamized streets inside the corporation. Property owners offered to macadamize alley running through block three if the City Conncil would do the necessary excavating. The city engineer reported specifications for the proposed sewer on Plnm, Franklin and Main streets. The plans were approved by the conncil and oity clerk was authorized to make bids for the same to be received on Sept. 11th. Charles S. Chamberlain was appointed superintendent of the electric light and water plant. The Standard Oil Company was granted permission to erect a storage tank, north of the railroad near Franklin street. Treasurer of the School Board filed the annual report showing total receipfs for the year, $19,387.33; expenditures $11,509.92. Balance on hand $7,877. .1.
