Too Much Fish.
Frank B. Meyer our genial P. M. and bis son Jim, who are spending an abundance of their precious time, up on the olassic waters of the Kankakee, succeeded in landing a fourteen and one-half pound channel oat, the other day. It was one of the largest fish of its kind, that has been taken from that river, “Since the memory of man runneth not to the contrary.” The fish was hooked in its lower jaw by Capt. Jim, when the P. M. saw that it was a monster fish, he immediately came to the assistance of his son, saying “Jim let me land him.” About that time the fish started up the river on double quiok time. Jim handed the fish pole to his father,& picked up the oars, and sent ihe boat up stream as' rapidly as possible. The P. M. after discovering that the fish showed symptons of being tired out, ordered Capt. Jim to jpress heavy on his larboard oar, and run the boat into port, which Jim did(to entire satisfaction. In the meantime the P. M. had reeled in the fish and brought him dose to the boat in shallow water, when Capt. Jim jumped out of the boat, into the river and caught the large fish by the tail, and aided the P. M. in landing him. And then Capt. Jim jumped onto the fish and crowed like a rooster. The P. M. at onoe made arrangements to send the fish down to the Novels house and ordered it cooked,' and served on his table, •U»t i« on the P. M ’s table, which was done accordingly on the following day, in the very beet of style. Muoh to the delight of five [hungry companions who eat at the same table with our Naßby, I After the fish had been properly served, all of the boarders who occupied seats at the table held an impromptu meeting, at whioh it was resolved that the P. M. of the oity of Rensselaer, is not now and never was an immersionest, that hejjnever fell out of a boat into the water, all stories to the conItrary notwithstanding. | It was further resolved, that es a general|thing “a great fisherman is a synonomous term with a great liar,” but jin this case it is a dear exception to the rule. And it was Ifftrtber resolvedjthat our present P. M. in(one particular at least, is I like the “Father of his Country that-is he cannot tell a lie. One Of Thb Fish Eaters.
