Railroad Meeting Tonight.

Everybody Come and Bring Yonr Neighbor. From Thursday’s Dally. An enthusiastic railroad meeting was held in the court honse last evening that was largely attended. The report of the committee appointed to confer with Mr. Gifford was received. His proposition, is to bring his road through Rensselaer for $12,000 and the right of way. The meeting then adjourned until this evening when a monster mass meeting will be held in the court house and necessary committees appointed. It is hoped that a number of Remingtonians will be present and .join in the work. Already very encouraging letters have been received from some of the leading men of that place and they are heartily in accord with the project. If the matter is pushed along now, trains will probably be running into this city over the road during the early winter. At present it is Mr. Gifford’s intention to build to McCoysburg this fall and if the route is changed it will strike the old Continental grade a few miles north of that place and the distance will be about Uhe same to Rensselaer from that point as it is to McCoysburg. It may be of interest to many to know that Gifford has hauled over five hundred car loads of potatoes and onions off his own land this sum mer over his road. This simply shows the wonderful possibilites of the enterprise. The road will tap the Pan Handle on the south cross the Three I and connect with the Pan Handle on the nofrth, all of whioh roads will be jsbad to get the business and make rates that will benefit every one in this section. If a township tax is levied it will be so small, that, as Nate Reed says, if it were placed on top of the court house it wouldn’t be noticed. Everybody come out to the meeting tonight. There will be music by the cornet and string bands, lots of enthusiasm and you will be better able to get a correct idea of the plans along which the project is being worked.
