State Tax Duplicate.

Working of Xortgage Exemption Will Kednce Totol Valuation. It is the opinion of the state board of tax commissioners that this year will show a decrease in the valuation of farm lands and town lots, and that an inorease will be noted in personal property. As has been shown by reports the board, there has been an increase of $1,000,000 in incorporated properties of the state. The mortgage deduction law, it is said, is going to cause a greater decrease in the tax duplicate than is generally supposed. It is pointed out that the law is a popular measure, and that many will take advantage of it. One member of the board said that he would not be suprised if the mortgage deductions this year cut down the tax duplicate $25,000,000. The total amount of the duplicate last year was $1,286,000,000. This year some say they do not think it will be more than twelve hundred and sixty million.
