Not Versed in Prophesy.
The county officers have been engaged in preparing their estimates of expenditures for the coming year. Of all the absurdities ever perpetrated, parts of this new law are striking examples. For instance the clerk is required to make an estimate of the cost of care of the insane for the year. Fortunately for him he is not required to name the persons who are to suffer dementia. He is also required to know how many people are going to die within a year and th 4 cost to the county. The other officers are required to answer questions fully as ridiculous. If the men who evolved that law all lived in one county the clerk would be pretty safe in placing his estimate on care of insane at the top notch.
