Mrs. Ideal Makeever’s Poems.

Mrs. Idael Makeever, one of whose dialect poems is to be recited at the library fund entertainment, next Friday evening, is the wife of our former townsman, Milton M. Makeever, now of Stromsburg, Neb. She, herself, was a native of Porter county. She has very decided talents in the poetical line and has written quite a large number of short pDems, most of them in some form of dialect, but quite a number and those, as we think, the better ones, are in ordinary literary language. She has published a collection of her poems, in a very elegant little volume, named “Golden Rod, and Dialect Poems.” All of the poems are well worth reading, while some of them are deserving of very high praise, indeed, and all of them give good promise for her future work. Mrs. Makeever’s book was very flatteringly received by the leading papers of Nebraska, when the volume was isshed, and wo gather from the tenor of their remarks, that her poems have quite a large and growing popularity in her own state.
