The Old Settlers’ Meeting.

The Third Annual Re-union of Old Settlers in what used to be Jasper County, is announced as a two days picnic to be held September Bth and 9th, 1899 at Rensselaer Indiana. A special feature will be incidents connected with the history of the territory embraced in Jasper county, prior to the formation of Porter, Lake, Benton and Newton counties. The program committee have sent invitations to former residents, who have gained honor and fame, among whom are Hon. Thos. Updegraff, of lowa, Hon. George Faris, of Terre Haute, Hon. E. P. Hammond of Lafayette, Ind., and Hon. John L. Pierce, of Lebanon, Mr, Pierce answers, under date of July 10, 1889, as follows: “With thanks for your kind invitation, and hoping to meet you etc, etc, I am Yours Truly, John L. Pierce.” And adds as a postscript, “I will talk on the changes in the personnel of the residents of your city.” , The Program Committee, consisting of R. S. D wiggins, Judge 8. P. Thompson, Chas. E. Mills, William R, Nowels, Mrs. Frank Foltz, Mrs. Robert Randle and Miss Jennie Harris, are to report a program to the director's on July 22nd. 1899.
