UNION ITEMS. Plenty of rain. Just what we need. Rye all harvested. Early oats ready to cut. Late oats will be ripe in a week. Corn crop never appeared better. The boys have gone fishing again. Tile ditchers have been busy. iHealth is generally good over the ✓township. The Baptist people held a three days S. S. meeting at Parr last week. Mrs. J. E. Alter visited with relatives in Chicago Heights last \week, Independence day was recognized Mt Parr and Fair Oaks. At Parr the program took the form of a Sunday school celebration. While at Fair Oaks many of the old Roman games were participated in. The same old foot race mentioned by Paul nearly 2000 years ago; the same circular race track where “mettled steeds strained every nerve and ran neck to neck.” The Ben X, Hur chariot was replaced by the modern bicycle. The center of attraction however was the bowery dance, which lasted all day and far into the night.
