Raided By The Police.
There was a regular police raid in town Saturday night, or rather early Sunday ntbming, in which the “minions of the law” surrounded a tough joint and “pulled” the J occupants in approved metropol-! itan style. There was no “Black Marier” to haul the occupants of the place to the police station in, but the walking was good and the distance to the jail not so very far. The house raided was that of August Andrews, on Smoky Row. The members of the police force Engaged consisted of Marshal McGowan and Night Police Childers, assisted by Jesse*Ball. Andrews was arrested, his charming daughter Lizzie, and two “gentlemen boarders.” The parties had their trials Sunday morning, before Squire B irnham. Andrews was fined on two charges, amounting in all including costs, to $62.20. The girl was' also finded on two charges, amounting to $52.40. The two “transients” got fines and costs* to the amounts of $21.20 and $19.60, respectively. All on pleas of guilty. Andrews is in jail and says be will stay there. Lizzie announces that she will sell her furniture and pay her’s The other two have given bail for their fines. One the two “gents” modestly hid in a closet when the marshal looked for him, . but the jovial Lizzie gave the marshal the tip where the party was.
