G. W. Dowell gets More Notoriety.

Geo. W. Dowell, the insurance man of Kokomo, formerly so well known in this county and especially for a shooting scrape he had at Francesville, is again in the toils of the law. t He was arrested one day last week in connection with another man on the charge of having burned a farmer’s barn. The farmers of Howard, Cass and Tipton counties recently organized a mutual company known as the Tri-county Farmers’ insurance company, and it made large inroads in Dowell’s business. During the spring months the farmers’ company suffered several severe losses of mysterious and suspicious origin, and a reward of 8500 was offered for the arrest and conviction of the incendiary. The men seeking this reward are endeavoring to fix the responsibility for these fires on Mr. Dowell who claims that he is entirely innocent and that his arrest is simply the result of a conspiracy on the part of his rivals to ruin bis business.
