Cuba Not Unhealthy.
Lawrence L. Letherman, who has been in Cuba for some time as a postoffice inspector, returned to bis home in this city last night looking brown and healthy. During his stay in Cuba, he gleaned some interesting facts concerning the people and institutions of the island. Contrary to report, he says there is little or no sickness in Cuba and his opinion is based on his observations made in every town and city on the island. He saw every nook and corner of Cuba and is of the opinion that the reports of sickness among the people have been greatly exaggerated. Havana is he says, a very healthy city and much cleaner than Chicago. Travel is accomplished, however, with great inconvenience as what railroads there are, are badly crippled by the long war. He says that many people are locating in Cuba every day and that business prospects are bright. With the exception of a few days sickness he was well during his entire trip. He will not return to Cuba but leave for Cincinnati Sunday.— Valparaiso Star-Vidette.
