Lightning and Wire Fences.
So many cattle were killed by lightning while standing near wire fences, in the State of Illinois, during the summer of 1898, that it has been proposed to diminish the danger by means of ground wires, which would conduct the electricity during a thunder storm, from the fence wires into the earth.
