Healey Coming After Us Again.
Brookst >n Gazette: Brookston won the game of ball played with Rensselaer last Thursday afternoon, the score being 13 to 3. It was freely prophesied on all sides that when we crossed sticks with Rensselaer we would meet such ignominious defeat that we would no longer make base ball pretentions, but this prophesy was made by persons who had not yet discovered that there is some excellent base ball talent in Brookston, and when the nine marched back to Brookston from the grounds last Thursday afternoon with the flush of victory on their faces, there was a look of pride on the face of every true Brookstonite. Rensselaer can play ball, and has a good team, comprised mostly of young players, but Irwin’s curves made it impossible for them to bat a ball out of reach of some of our capable in or out fielders, while our heavy batters kept their pitcher’s balls soaring in the air or cutting the grass continually. The date for going to Rensselaer to play a return game has not been set, but it is promised for the near future, and we expect to take up a large crowd to watch us “do it” a second time.
