From the Wall Street Review. According to advices from Cleveland, the surplus supply of pig iron is oply three days ahead of the consumption, and it is predicted that within a week this surplus will be wiped out and the supply will not be equal the demand. On April 1, 1897, the reserve amounted to 1,092,113 tons and on the corresponding date last year it amounted to 814,951 tons. On April 1, of this year, the surplus had fallen to 302,628 tons. The cause of this falling off is the increase in consumption, which is 35 per cent greater than last year; all furnaces are running to their full capacity and many manufacturers considrr the situation serious.
