NORTH BARKLEY. James Maloy, of Rensselaer, was in this vicinity buying swine Monday. Mr. and Mrs. King, of Morrocco visited the latter’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Hann a few days last week. Miss Ethel Halm visited friend* near Hopkins Park last week. Eva Nolan was bitten by a rattle snake Thursday, she drank a pint of alcohol before it took effect, afterwards drinking one quart which no doubt saved her life, she is getting along nicely at this writing. Grant Darding, of Fowler, is working for T. M. Callahan. He belonged to the 22nd volunteers of Ind Nearly all the idle boys of Rensselaer are in our onion fields pulling weeds. Master Owenie Callahan is seriously ill. Charles and Arthur must have been out late the other night, in the morning they went out to plant wseet corn and was about half done when they discovered they ; were planting yellow field corn. Better come in early next time boys, Harry Gifford and Charles Walker were in Rensselaer Monday. Mrs. " Henkle and daughter are talking of starting restaurant at Gomer in the near future. A neat little surprise was gotten up on Arthur Meckling, Sunday. It being his birthday. A nice dinner was served and all departed wishing him many more such birthdays.
