Rensselaer Semi-Weekly Republican, Volume 20, Number 80, Rensselaer, Jasper County, 9 June 1899 — The City Council. [ARTICLE]

The City Council.

The City Council held a special sesion Tuesday night, to take some' further action on the proposed street improvements; and ordinances for all the improvements were adopted. The ordinances provide for the improvements without any important changes from what has already been given, except that on the three streets abutting on the public square, the gutters previously proposed, will be dispensed with. The macadam will extend from ourb to curb, and a curb composed of a grouting of crashed rook and cement will be used. A mistake in the former order for the improvement of Cedar street, was corrected in the ordinance for that’ street. Instead of extending for three blooks, it will be only two blooks, or from Division to Milton street.
