The County Commissioners-

The county commissioners met in regular monthly sessions, last Monday. Though the sessions are now monthly, the saloon licenses cases appear to continue to come quar terly, as there were six cases acted on atthis session and one published, applicant, Clark, of Wheatfield, withdrew his application. Henry Hildebrand, of Rensselaer Michael Bernicken, of Wheatfield, and Daniel F. O’Conner and John M. Johnson, of Remington were licensed without opposition. A big fight was made on Alfred Ponton, of Kniman. A Nicholson remonstrance was circulated in the township, Walker, and got names enough to defeat the saloon but the applicant got around among the signers and got thirty ot (take their names off. This left the remonstrance without enough legal signers. But the opposition then showed that the applicant had not filed his application the necessary three days before the beginning of the term, and his application was rejected on that grounds August F. Hoops, was another Remington applicant and he did not fare so well as O’Conner and Johnson. A fight was made on him on the grounds of fitness with such evidence as that he used to run a quart shop, and that he kept a tough joint generally, and he was thrown down,
