Death of Edward Ravenscroft.
One of Carpenter townships’ oldest and most universally es teemed residents, has passed to his long rest. . Edward Ravenscroft died about 6 o’clock, Friday evening, May 26th, 1899, at his home about three miles northeast of Remington. The cause of his death was the general weakness and failure of old age. His age was 87 years, 8 months and 2 days. He was born in Hampton county, Virginia, now part of West Virginia, and lived there until 1855, when he moved to this county and settled on the farm where he died; settling there before the Pan Handle railroad was built or the town of Remington was even thought of. His wife, whose maiden name was Sarah Fleek survives him. They lived together the long period of 58 years; and it is a remarkable circumstance that during all that time his death was the first to occur in in the family. Though they raised eight children, and all of those except one are married and have children, not a*single death has occurred among children or grandchildren. The children are Mrs. Mary. J. Irwin, of Rensselaer, David B. and Sampson, of Carpenter Tp., Mrs. Sarah Rank, of Chicago, Mrs. Kate Horner, of Kingman, Kans., Henry K., of Oklahoma; Jasper 8., of South Dakota; and Mrs. Isabelle Parks, of Milroy. There are 25* grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He was a member of the United Brethren church, nearly all his life. The funeral will be held at the residence Sunday, at 10 a. m. and interment be made at Remington
