Mr. Walter Imes, a former resident and son of Willis J. Imes, was married at Crown Point, Ind., last Wednesday, May 24th to Miss Vera Shafer, of Jackson, Mich. They will reside at Hammond, where Mr. Imes is a telegraph operator in the employ of the Erie Railroad Company. Rensselaer J members of the Ladies of the G. A. R. also received their share of honor at the state meeting at Terre Haute. Mrs. J. C. Porter, of Milroy Circle, was elected state treasurer in the organization. Mrs. M. L. Spitler, another member of this circle, was a member of the reception committee at Terre Haute. The Ladies of the G. A. R. is evidently a flourishing order, and it now has 22 or 23 circles in this state, and a membership of over 800, which is a rapid growth, for the time the order has been in existence. We see by the Valparaiso papers that Rev. H. M. Middleton, pastor of Trinity M. E. church, cut quite a prominent figure in the meeting of the Ministerial Association, at that city last week, as was indeed to be expected from a minister of his well recognized standing and ability. One result of his labors there is that Rensselaer was selected as the place of meeting for the Association next year. It will be held some time in May, and will call together quite a large body of Methodist ministers.
