DEMOTTE. May Fairchild has ’ gone to Momence, staying with the family of John Shortridge. C. O. Spencer and W. C. Tyler have gone to. Washington Heights to do carpentering work. Every once and awhile, we see a xeturaed soldier on our streets. The boys seem lost their occupation gone. We have had enough rain here for awhile but the weather clerk dosn’t seem inclined to pull on the check string yet. Hattie Fairchild is spending a few days in Rensselaer visiting the family of J. P. Hammond and other acquaintances there. Our Brass Band treats us occasion ally to some quite excellent music. Their leader Leslie Sayers deserves credit for his careful training of the boys. We are creditably informed that the 31 will put two more passenger trains on the road this week thereby making it possible for residents in the north end to make the trip to Rensseiaer and back the same day.
