“One Good Term Deserves Another.”
On Monday June sth the township trustees will meet to elect a county superintendent, who, under the new law will serve for four years, instead of two as heretofore. It is evident that our present county superintendent, Louis H. Hamilton, will receive the re- election he so well deserves, without opposition. This county has been favored with a uniform succession of good county superintendents ever since the office was created, but we do not think we are doing any of them the least injustice by saying that Mr. Hamilton’s record during his'first term is the equal of any of theirs. Tn securing harmony and good work in the schools of the county he has succeeded most admirably; while he has steadily raised the standard of excellence and efficiency among the teachers of the county, and without any unnecessary severity of requirements. That this view of Mr. Hamilton’s high standing as a superintendent is not a purely local and biased one, we cite the recognition he has received among the superintendents and educators of the state generally. When did it happen before that a first term man has been given at once two such honorable positions as secretary of the State Association, of County Superintendents and a memdership on the important committee for selecting questions for teachers’ examination. Still another recognition of his stand ing is found in an invitation which has come to him lately to write articles on educational subjects for the Indiana School Journal.
