The Star Route Contracts.
The sub-contracts for carrying the mails on all the star routes centering in Rensselaer have now been let for the year beginning July Ist. A new man has the general contracts and it is mostly new men who have taken the sub-contraots. In fact the route to Mt. Ayr is the only one let to the present contractor on that route, and the putting on of regular trains on the Coal Road will invalidate his contract before it begins to take effect. N. K. Parks is the sub-contractor. The Blackford and Aix route is sublet to James W. Nelson, of Rensselaer, for $l4O. Charley Fox is the present carrier. The Pleasant Grove and Valma Route is let to Mr. Fox for about S2OO. Tom O’Meara present carrier. The Sharon route, now carried by Mr. Sheurick, is let to Mr. Shopp. He will get $67.96. The Collegeville route, heretofore always carried by Brother William, the college farm superintendent, has now been let to Jerry Schofield, the Rensselaer back man, at $122.59 per year. All these routes go once every week day, except Sharon, which is three times a week and Collegeville which is twice every week day.
