A Bad Runaway.
Tuesday morning while Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Faris, from a few miles southeast, were driving into town, in a lumber wagon, a young Adams boy passed them on a bicycle, a little east of Wm. Bussel’s place. One of Mr. Faris’ horses was a colt, and it took fright at the bicycle. The horses started to run, and in trying to hold them Mr. Faris broke one of the lines. The horses then turned and ran up near Lewis’ cigar factory where they turned around so short as to throw out Mr. and Mrs. Faris. Both were considerably hurt, especially Mrs. Faris who struck on her left shoulder. The latter is extensively bruised and besides she was badly shocked. She was taken to Wm. Bussell’s house and Drs. Washburn and English were called, but they do not think any bones are broken, or that any of the injuries are likely to prove at all serious. Mr. Faris was considerably bruised on the back. The horses ran baok on the gravel road, and to near Granville Moody’s place where they ran the point of the wagon tongue full against a large telephone pole with suoh force as to break one of the cross arms at the top of the pole, and to nearly force the pole out of the ground. The harness was badly broken and also the wagon tongue, but the horses and the rest of the wagon escaped without much damage.
