The Circuit Court.
One of the longest and most complicated cases of the term was that of F. W. Bedford against his former partner, M: JP. Warner, for an aoconnting. The case was tried by Judge Thompson, without a jury, and a decision is withheld until next term. A new state case is that of the State of Indiana vs Frank E. Babcock, editor of the Jasper County Democrat, for criminal, libel on complaint of George E. Marshall. The defense moved to quash the affidavit and information, on the grounds that the words complained of were not libellous The court overruled the motion to quash; the defendant plead not guilty and the case was continued until the next term; The defendant gave bail for SIOO for his appearance. In another criminal libel case, the State vs John H. Jesson, the complaining witness being the same as in the preceding; the case was also continued until next term, the defendant giving bail for SIOO.
