Tax Exemption Expires April 30th.

The new mortgage exemption law designates the months of March and April as the time during which affidavits claiming exemption can be filed. The months March and April were probably intended to have been April and May but as the law says March and April, March and April jt must be, until the next legislature amends the law. Attorney Gen. Taylor has been explaining the law, and he says that claims for exemption must be filed before May Ist. The deductions secured this year, will apply on taxes to be paid in 1900 but not on taxes to be paid this year.
